Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
2 Peter 3:11-13New King James Version (NKJV)
In these verses Peter leaves each of us with a challenge and encouragement. We have been studying through the Book of Daniel for several weeks here at HCC, looking at this man of integrity and exploring these incredible prophecies given to him and to us through him. And so now Peter’s words ring loud and clear to us, “what manner of persons ought you to be…” In other words, because we know what we know, how should that translate into how we live and act and what we say?
My prayer for each of us is that we will redeem the time God has given us. We do that through living lives that make a difference for eternity and by proclaiming His message of hope and reconciliation to all who will listen.
