1 John 3:1
Beloved what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God.

What an amazing thing God has done for those who call Him Savior and Lord. Not only has He reconciled us (or made us in right standing before Him) and given us eternal life through the transformational work of His Son, but He has also adopted us into His family as His kids.

That, to me, is the most amazing thing of this whole process: That God would pour out His love upon me to such a degree that He would bring me into His eternal family as one of His very own cherished and loved children.

Adoption isn’t an easy process. It is riddled with emotional ups and downs and it can be filled with heartaches and joys. But it is always in that adding onto the family, that bringing into the fold more precious lives to enjoy all the benefits that the existing family has both enjoyed and has to offer that the greatest rewards are realized.
The adopted children get the great benefits of all that the parents have to offer; their resources, their support, their guidance, their care and most importantly, their unconditional love.

That is what we celebrate this Advent season, that God would send His Son into the world that ultimately we would have the opportunity to accept His gift of salvation and thereby be adopted into the eternal family of God the Father, the lover of our soul.

As you reflect upon the great depths of this verse and all that God has blessed you with this season, I pray that He would impress upon you just deeply and unconditionally you are loved by Him.

God bless,

Dan
